Girls Rugby for the 2023 - 2024 season

Girls age-grade rugby is played at U14, U16 and U18.

For the 2023 / 24 season:

- U14 is for girls born in 2010 & 2011.

- U16 is for girls born in 2008 & 2009.

- U18 is for girls born in the second half of 2005, in 2006 & 2007.

We continue to build our girls pathway with increasing numbers training and playing from Minis through the age grades to our successful women’s first team that is one of only 9 teams playing in the top level Women’s All Ireland League.

Like many clubs, we play in combined teams to give our players the opportunity to play at a competitive level in full teams. We have done this for the last two seasons at all three age grades, with the U16s having notable success last season, winning the Metro League. We will continue this season with our partner clubs for the last two
seasons, Old Belvedere and Terenure, playing as Sharks (U14G), Vipers (U16G) and Panthers (U18.5G).  Blackrock will also contribute players to the Sharks and Vipers panels and Railway Union will contribute players to Vipers and Sharks panels.

Suttonians age grade girls train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30pm to 8pm and on Sunday mornings from 10:00 to 11:15 and parents and new players are always welcome to come down to see what training is like and we are very happy for girls to join in to see if they would like to play.

Matches typically take place on Saturdays.

Younger girls have their own Minis programme and train on Sunday mornings and are also happy to welcome new players. Our parents tell us that their girls find our group welcoming and we aim to build a respectful, fun, encouraging and safe environment, where girls can express themselves through rugby and stay active, healthy and
engaged.
