Simon English - Club President 2024 - 2025

Dear Fellow Suttonians,

I would like to welcome everyone to the 2024-2025 Centenary Season!
It is a great honour and privilege to serve as your President for the upcoming season as it’s a very special one for our club as we at Suttonians celebrate 100 Years! There will be
several events throughout the year something for everyone from Minis to Seniors and
Alicadoos.

I came to this club 30 years ago to play rugby and being from rural Tipperary I didn’t know what to expect. There was such a good feeling around the club, and I knew I had found a new home! I played for 20 years and made great friends and Suttonians became my new family.

Our Men’s and Women’s teams played so well last season. The aim this season is to
compete for top honours in the League and Cup competitions. I believe this is possible with hard work and commitment and we all need to support our senior teams both at home and away. I know from my playing days sideline support means so much to the players on the park, so let’s hear your voice this season and we ask all supporters to respect the players and officials.

MY Suttonians had a very successful season too, our thanks to the efforts of all the
volunteer mentors and coaches. We as a club must support our younger teams of boys and girls, they are the future!

There are so many members who deserve enormous credit for the tireless work they have done and continue to do. I would like to thank my predecessor Barry O’Brien who has been a brilliant ambassador for our club. Dave Barron, Allen Kiernan, Martin Griffin, John McCourt, Simon Lewis, Mark Colgan, Andy Johnston, Emer Litchfield, Willie Moran and all our dedicated volunteers who contribute so much to the successful running of our club. I would like to encourage as many members as possible to volunteer this season - get involved – your club needs you!

I would like to thank our main club sponsor Windsor Motor and Nissan for their continued
support and thanks to all our other club sponsors, your ongoing support is so greatly
appreciated.

Many thanks to my wife Susan, son Liam who plays for the U15’s this season and my
daughter Ciara, for their continued support.

Finally, I am very excited for the year ahead, I look forward to welcoming all our members, guests and spectators to Station Road!

Fág an bealach,
Yours in Rugby,
Simon English.
President 2024-2025.
